A fire in Roseburg, Ore., that broke out at a commercial storage facility in Roseburg on Sunday evening is currently under investigation but is not believed to be caused by criminal activity, according to the Roseburg Fire Department.
RFD officials said they responded at about 8:30 p.m. on October 6 to a commercial structure fire in the 300 block of NE Pomona Street. Multiple 911 callers reported seeing fire and smoke showing at Gecko RV and Boat Storage and firefighters arrived to confirm the heavy presence of both showing from about 14 storage units within the complex, fire authorities said.Â
The fire is a reminder to all RV and boat storage property owners to review insurance policies and make sure they have the coverage needed to protect their business.Â
Authorities said firefighters quickly extinguished the fire after searching the site for potential occupants and used rotary saws to cut through garage doors of individual storage units to check for fire and to confirm that the fire was not spreading through common attic space. A total of six units were damaged by fire and smoke while numerous other units suffered smoke damage, according to Roseburg fire officials. Fire officials said that personnel were on scene for about four hours to conduct an extensive overhaul of the affected storage units.
