Q1 RV Shipments Increase by 14% as March Numbers Soar to 15.8%

Year 2025 is off to a great start for the RV and boat storage industry. Results for the RV Industry Association’s March 2025 survey of manufacturers reveal that total RV shipments ended the month with 37,348 units, an increase of 15.8% compared to the 32,243 units shipped in March 2024. To date, RV shipments are up 13.9% with 97,848 units.

Developers and investors in the storage industry typically review RV shipments when determining ongoing demand for RV and boat storage. According to research, five times the current supply of RV/boat storage is needed to meet growing demand. The dearth in storage for these vehicles is due to a couple key factors: Each year, more Americans turn to the great outdoors for recreational purposes, choosing to purchase RVs and boats to enhance their experiences. Simultaneously, the number of HOAs restricting parking of such vehicles within neighborhoods has grown proportionately.

“Heading into the summer selling season, RV shipments are up nearly 14% in the first quarter, and our research shows an estimated 72 million Americans planning RV trips this year,” said RV Industry Association President & CEO Craig Kirby. “While we’re keeping a close eye on consumer confidence and potential tariff effects, one thing remains clear: even in times of economic uncertainty, Americans turn to travel and the outdoors. The RV lifestyle has enduring appeal offering freedom, flexibility, and memorable adventures on the open road.”

Towable RVs, led by conventional travel trailers, ended the month up 17.1% from last March with 33,982 shipments. Motorhomes finished the month up 4.4% compared to the same month last year with 3,366 units.

Park Model RVs finished March up 6.7% compared to the same month last year, with 366 wholesale shipments.
