A pioneer of the luxury garage industry is growing its footprint even further in the Lone Star State, recently breaking ground on its latest project in Garland, Texas.
North Texas-based Garages of America launched in 2014. Founded by investor Fred Gans and developer Jack Griffin (a former race car driver), the company sought to offer community-driven spaces for car enthusiasts. But there’s a little bit more to it than that. In addition to the merging of vehicle storage and lifestyle, there’s investment potential. Units are not leased, they’re sold.

“Our owners enjoy more than just a place to park their beloved cars and showcase their collections — they enjoy being part of a community while owning a financial asset that has increased in value,” Gans said, according to a press release.
The Garland project, known as Garages of America Firewheel, is going up at 4705 N President George Bush Highway near E Brand Road. When completed, it will comprise 71 customizable garage units and 10 flex office warehouse spaces, all available for purchase. Buyers get a deed to their unit and the protections afforded under Texas’ Property Owners Association laws — think of Garages of America as an HOA.
“Firewheel is a central location off George Bush with easy access to Dallas, Collin, and Rockwall Counties,” said Griffin.
North Texas has been an ideal market for the luxury garage industry. With the broader Metroplex functioning as a powerful economic engine, it’s no surprise that Dallas is one of the wealthiest cities in the United States. Boasting numerous corporate headquarters with plenty of executives netting executive-level pay, D-FW seems to be rife with car enthusiasts of means.
Garages of America either already has or is building locations in eight North Texas cities, including Allen, Carrollton, Dallas, Frisco, Garland, Plano, Roanoke, and Rockwall. The original units in Allen, Carrollton, and Frisco all sold out, prompting the company to initiate phase two developments in all three cities. Garages of America is also working on its footprint in the greater Houston area.
“Our rapid expansion underscores the demand for secure, high-end spaces where like-minded individuals can comfortably gather, network, and share their passions,” said Gans.
Units at a Garages of America come with oversized doors, elevated ceilings, built-in mezzanines, and individually metered utilities. Facilities are climate-controlled and gated, and owners get access to a clubhouse.
“We’re building more than garages — we’re fostering an active lifestyle for car enthusiasts,” Griffin said. “Our owners appreciate being surrounded by a community of owners with shared interests.”
