Metro Storage has opened a new self storage facility in Spring Hill, Fla. The 675-unit property is the company’s latest addition to its Florida portfolio.
The property includes a three-story building with climate-controlled units and two single-story buildings with standard units and drive-up access.
The unit size ranges between 25 to 600 square feet. The facility also offers a total of 114 parking units, divided into 83 covered RV and boat parking spots with electrical hook-ups and 31 car parking spaces. On-site amenities include 24-hour video surveillance, motion-sensor lighting, locks, packing and moving supplies, elevator access, as well as a permanently available kiosk for rentals and payments.
The property is located at 3286 Barclay Ave., 47 miles from Tampa, Fla., with access to the Suncoast Parkway. The facility is near a residential area, serving the storage needs for the surrounding neighborhoods.
Open since 1973, Chicago-based Metro Storage owns and operates facilities across the United States, with over 85 properties in 12 states, representing more than 6.1 million rentable square feet.
Marty Gallagher, president of Metro Storage, commented in prepared remarks that the company has had a strong presence in the Florida market for many years and that the market knowledge was instrumental in designing the new facility to meet the particular storage needs of the area’s residents.
According to Yardi Matrix data, Metro Storage owns 13 facilities in Florida, adding up to a total of approximately 1.2 million square feet. The latest research report shows that Tampa’s under construction and planned supply accounted for 12.5 percent of existing inventory as of November, slightly above the national average of 11.1 percent.
