Blogging can be a great way to market your RV and boat storage facility while simultaneously nurturing relationships with current and future tenants. As a rec-vehicle storage operator–catering to tenants with expensive, oversized and much-loved toys–you know how important it is to market your business to the right people. You can do that through lots of distinct types of marketing strategies, but the one we will be focusing on right now can be the easiest place to start: blogging.
Why Blogging?
Despite what you may think, blogging is actually a highly effective means of marketing. For your facility’s website, posting monthly or bi-monthly blogs will add content to your site and can provide easy, but engaging content for posts on your social media channels. Blog content can take on many forms–from personal adventures as an operator, to vignettes about tenant experiences or tips to enhance the overall storage experience–but having the information written in one place is a great foundation for introducing other forms of digital content.
Most importantly, this content can increase your online presence and improve your organic rankings, because in its most fundamental form, blogging is a way to reach a wider audience and increase your tenant base. Through blogging, your customer base and potential customers gain an insight into your company and how it runs.
How Do I Come Up With Blog Topics?
Supplying a steady stream of blog topics for your RV and boat facility doesn’t have to be difficult. First of all, let’s review the two types of blogs you should be familiar with: B2B and B2C. B2B is shorthand for targeting business-to-business. This means that your blog topics will appeal to and cover issues faced by other business owners. On the other hand, B2C targeting is business-to-customer topics, meaning the audience will mostly be customers looking for information and solutions to their inquiries. As a business owner blogging to rank and to become a trusted authority, you want to focus on B2C.
Next is brainstorming. This step is the most creative. The best place to start is with your team, asking everyone for ideas about what story ideas might be important to tenants. Do they need to learn about safety measures regarding storing RVs and boats? How do they decide the size of their unit? These are just two examples that could lead to blog content.
Another great brainstorming tactic is to peek at what other like-minded RV and boat storage operators are posting. Make a note of what topics have people interacting with the blog. Check out sites like Quora and search for the topic you want to write about. This will give you an idea of what people are concerned about when talking about the topics you want to cover.
How Do I Get People to Read My Blog?
Now’s the time to contemplate how you’ll attract your audience. Before you plan your word count and keyword usage, think about what your blog can bring to the table. What does your unique perspective provide that others’ experiences haven’t? To get people to read interesting content, you must write engaging content. Writing what you know about will generally make your writing clear and your information accurate. The more genuine you are, the more likely people will connect with you.
Can I Use AI?
If you haven’t heard the latest about iArtificial Intelligence news, then you may not know about Chat GPT. There is not a high enough word count to explain the logistics behind the algorithms and technology of artificial intelligence. Some really smart people developed a chatbot. This is not Ask Jeeves. This is an evolution of technology integrating with human language to better produce written content for customer service. However, this technology has expanded to even help write blog content.
Chat GPT is still in the early stages of development and experts are predicting the technology could evolve in ways we never expected. The program works by inputting the data you want the AI to write about. Then, using a myriad of sources of written content, the program pieces together paragraphs that are the most accurate and eerily conversational. This does not mean it is flawless; you still need a human to edit the content for clarity and accuracy, but the program has made huge strides.
Should you choose to use Chat GPT or any other AI software, this is a good strategy for the small business owner who needs to push through relevant content while on a busy schedule. Just make sure you read through the AI content to ensure it maintains the correct messaging that you want to convey to our audience. At the very least, you could take the AI-generated content and edit it to sound like your “voice.”
Always keep in mind that RV and boat owners are looking for assurance that their prized possessions are going to be in the utmost safe-keeping. Your blog can give them the reassurance they need. If you convey a trustworthy, genuine tone that you’re dedicated to securing their toys and providing them with the absolute best in customer service, you’ll likely have lifelong tenants.
